THE CAPITOL THEATER
Each town center had it's movie theaters. In the 1950's, for a
quarter you could see the weekly matinee. Pop was a nickel & popcorn a dime.
The other shows where the Paramount, the Odeon, the Esquire and the College.
One of my best recollections was of the Capitol theater. . . . we lived just down on
Dalhousie street. Saturdays I would go to the market to sell a few old baskets that I had collected
to make enough money for the Saturday matinee. I recall when Elvis's "Love Me Tender" played,
my friends and I managed to sneak in the back doors and totaly enjoy the free movie.
