Don Henderson

Don & the '66 427 Fairlane (Avg ets. mid 11 sec.)
Don & the '68 428 Mustang (Avg ets. low 11 sec.)

The late Don Henderson was one of the local drag racing greats. His ability to make a Ford go fast
was legendary. His stay-together engines ran well in any venue from oval track racing to the drags.

"I first got to know Don while working together at Brant County Motors.
Along with his sense of humor and mischief was a favorite saying
when things went wrong....."Well, dems 'd Hazzards"
Don lobbied hard to get the company to sponsor a race car and when the 427 Fairlane
finally arrived (4 month late) he was like a little kid with a new toy."

My own humble race car below, while not fancy, ran consistently in the low 13 second range with one of
Don's magic 312 cu.in."Y" blocks (bored out to 348 cu.in.) Usually not known for their reving ability
I surprised many a 327 with lots of torque off the line.
Originally built to run oval track in Bill Walsh's Fords, it served me well and stayed together.
