"Gone but not forgotten" The Port Dover beach strip as it looked in the early 1960's
The Summer Gardens (the roof can be seen on the right) was a round dance hall on
the main beach strip. Operated by Don Ivey, it hosted many famous musicians over the years
In the early 60's "Rompim' Ronnie Hawkins & the Hawks" were one of the biggest and the best.
The last of a total of three Gardens built since the 1920's it was destroyed by fire
in the 1970's after falling victim to changing times.
