Sunday, after the Races

KOHLER was an old W.W.II Air Force training base. our local car club
The PISTON PUSHERS, supplied much of the labor to operate it on weekends.
In the mid 60's it finally became a sanctioned NHRA strip.
While it was great to watch SCOTT WILSON's AA fuel dragster & other great cars like
Rankin Ford's WILD CHILD, the ARGYLE HIGHLANDER and DON HEDERSON's 427 Fairlane,
somehow the electronic timing, the factory sponsored super cars and all the new rules
seemed to take a bit of fun out of "run what you brung"drag racing.
Late Sunday afternoon everyone gathered at the local burger joints,
The SHAKE 'N BURGER or A & W, comparing E.T. slips and lying about how fast we all went.
